I have two pads, a roughly 3/4" square one and a rectangular one that is a little over 1" by about 1/4". The square one is on the left as you look down at them (which is reverse of other photos of purge pads I have seen on this forum). I could tell by sight that the square one was pretty damp...
I will test the purge system with the Windex after I get back from work today. Would a faulty purge system prevent ANY ink at all from printing during the nozzle check?
Alright, I've been back from vacation and have tried a few things. First, let me state that the problem definitely was not the cartridge. When I did a nozzle check after installing it, I looked at the nozzle check print and everything looked great - until I looked at it later and discovered that...
Unfortunately I don't have the time to do this correctly right now. I have taken the cartridges out and sealed them the best I can with tape and then stored them in a plastic zip lock bag. I'm assuming I need to do this to prevent them drying out while I am gone (about two weeks before I get...
Argh!
I thought the printer worked fine until I went to print confirmation numbers, etc., for my vacation. I wasn't paying attention the other day after I bought the new Canon cartridge and tried it out, I think I might have tried it out on dark gray text, not black. Black won't print at all...
Thanks ghwellsjr, I'm still not sure what the problem was (is?) with the cartridge. As I noted earlier, it didn't take much pressure at all when I was blowing through the vent hole to force ink out of the outlet, so I took that as a sign that there was no clog. I know you posted an idea that the...
Can I ask how many times you do it (refill, drain, repeat) with the Windex and then how many times do you need to do it with water to rinse it? Also, while I'm thinking about it, do you use straight Windex or diluted?
I started trying to do the purge, but realized that I was trying a mixture of ideas that didn't necessarily work together. I used a combination of withdrawing the ink with the German method, then blowing through the vent hole to force ink out of the outlet, then ghwellsjr's method of using the...
Alright, I've tried everything except the purge and nothing worked. When I tried ghwellsjr's method of clearing the vent, I couldn't get any ink to come out at all. I'm not the burliest guy in the world but I'm pretty sure if I would have squeezed that cartridge any harder it would have bust a...
Okay, thanks again. Hopefully I will get a chance to try these fixes after work today. I will post my results.
One last question (for now), do the terms "purging", "draining", and "flushing" all refer to the same process of emptying the cartridge of ink, flushing it out with water (or...
Thanks for everyone's replies. Here is my plan, with a couple more questions.
I could take the cartridge out and try to do all of the suggested fixes at once, but I would like to isolate the problem for future reference, so what I want to do is try one fix at a time with a test print in...
Alright, I'll look into that and do a search on how to purge the cartridges. I already got a flashlight out last night and looked at where the cartridge sits, it seemed alright to me. Do you think ink could have dried in the breathing holes when I overfilled and now air can't get in?
Thanks for...
Hi everyone, this is my first post but I've been lurking here for a few months picking up all kinds of valuable nuggets of information. I've been able to find answers to my previous questions by using the "search" function but no such luck this time. So here goes....
I have a Canon MP620 and...
