    Epson NPL-N3000 - Printing Smudges.

google your problem, specifying the make and model of the printer. On my HP mono laser printer I've used a "cleaning" page that is described in the documentation when there is a repetitive artifact on the prints. The problem, however, has not been smudges. It is repeating lines or text. Much...

ENDED - Winner Announced - Official PrinterKnowledge Picture Contest #2

Are you using a digital stereo camera? As I recall, there is also a technique for using a non-stereo camera with a tripod mount that permits the camera to move a measured amount to the side for the second shot. This simulates the two images that your eyes would see separately that are fused...

Printer Revival - A dark art

good advice, The Hat, as usual! The printer in question was not destined for storage but was to be maintained with periodic nozzle checks and cleaning cycles to keep the print head healthy until the printer was needed for regular use. I stupidly lost track of it and neglected it for over a...

Printer Revival - A dark art

Here's my experience with an IP 4300 yesterday. I bought this used printer for $40 over a year ago - primarily for the OEM ink carts in it plus another set that the seller had in reserve. When I brought it home I checked the nozzle printout and it was perfect. Testing it with plain paper text...

Picture Of The Week (POW) Information and Submissions

I was first able to view this most famous and beautiful inscrutable smile in spring, 1961. As I recall, the only barrier was a velvet rope line just feet from the painting. Again in spring, 1966, my recollection was that the view was unimpeded by a fixed rail or bullet-proof glass. Fortunately...

Picture Of The Week (POW) Information and Submissions

@Smudger sayeth -" I made this picture of some woman I found on the Internet. Contains 'blur', though. It shows the dark, enigmatic beauty of the plastic printer case, contrasted against the clearly moving, wonderful highlights of the printer carriage." Methinks (not to be confused with...

    Something called Anzac Day

I had never heard the full version of Waltzing Matilda, nor had I heard The Green Fields of France. Very stirring anti-war songs and sung by the fantastic Liam Clancy whom I had not heard before either. In the US there are several singers who have done anti-war songs that are memorable - Pete...

    Something called Anzac Day

Thanks to 3dogs and The Hat for bringing to our attention the commemoration of the slaughter at Gallipoli. I was not aware of this disaster until seeing the movie, Gallipoli, in 1981. 3dogs post and the Guardian article provided more information to expand my knowledge of this horrible event...

    New PrinterKnowledge header image

Good clean design, CakeHole! If we are to change the header, this is better than the previous choices in my opinion.

    New PrinterKnowledge header image

Ah so desuka! Another voice for "simple". A fellow adherent to the philosophy that '"less is more." While my favorite photographic medium is B/W, I feel that color does suit the forum. Although I still prefer the current heading, I'd agree with Smudger that #1 is the best of those under...

New Printer Help | What to buy ...

Karen - all inkjet printers use ink to keep the printhead from clogging. Although Epsons seem to have the reputation for using more ink than some, I can't confirm this and it may just be anecdotal. Depends on what you mean by using it on occasion. If any inkjet printer sits unused for long...

Do Canon Setup carts contain less ink?

"Tricky" on two accounts - first, the deceptive packaging for the setup cart. Second, 7 ml. of ink - considerably less than the bci-6 carts I started with 11 years ago that, as I recall, have 13 ml. of ink. At least the nominal prototype of the "sell the sucker the starter cheap and then hit...

Problem with Cyan & Magenta Nozzles

I don't know if it has anything to do with the problem, but I'd also do a printhead alignment. Then run a cleaning cycle or two to be sure there is ink in the recently cleaned printhead before running another nozzle test.

    Forum Rants

To be clear, then --- is it the degree of post-processing and the deviation from what the original image presents that is of concern? I am not criticizing when I say that tweaking IS post-processing. If tweaking is a crime I stand convicted as charged.
