The amount of pluses for ASA use are out weighted by the minuses, with the set up I use.. Because it’s not Practical to have enclosed printers for expelling the nasty gases that would accumulate in and around the printers.Yeah, I forgot about that, those parts for the ,lampost must be quite huge. @Redbrickman is right, an enclosure is almost mandatory for printing large parts in ASA.
It would turn my love and pleasure of 3D printers into a nightmare, not having access to them any time I liked wouldn’t work for me, that would be like sending your STL files out for printing elsewhere.. I ask ?, where’s the pleasure in that..
I make these large projects up because I can and yes they will fail in time but then I can reprint them once again with newer improvements , that’s what owning a 3D printer is all about..
Inkjet printer owners use 3rd party inks to produce their beautiful prints, because these inks are cheap and will fade in time, but without these inks they wouldn’t be able to afford to print many of the their prints, does that mean they shouldn’t use these cheap inks ?
The use of ASA filament would be a great asset to me in most of my projects, but without PLA filament I too wouldn’t be able to print as much as I do, so I’m happy to continue with the consequents..
