You are not going to find empty "virgin" OEM Canon cartridges. As for 3rd party vendors who make good replacements; I heard Hobbicolors sells a BCI3/6 cartridge with a screw on top specifically for refillers. These carts are sold empty and you can refill with whatever ink strikes your fancy...

For what it is worth, and take this as one data point in the sample, I have used both Hobbicolors and MIS (Image Specialists) ink and have noticed that the MIS ink has a much broader gamut. My Hobbicolors prints are just duller by comparison. Soon I will have profiles to verify this...
