PRO-1000 - access print head when printer is blocked by B204

Very interesting. With my printer it was fortunately solved with the new print head. To be honest, after seeing the Canon technician work on the printer for two hours, I would not dare to try it myself. The technician even charged only for an hour in the end, saying it is not my fault that it...

PRO-1000: High Density Fine Art Paper and the top feed

Hi Ralph, Thanks a lot for that information, I will give it a try! Regards, Robert

    Paper vs Usecases

For sure it is more a matter of preference, you won‘t be able to assign papers to photographic genres, as images within those categories can vastly differ. Glossy papers have higher contrast and a larger color gamut, matte papers lend themselves more to a muted presentation. The paper‘s tone -...

    Paper vs Usecases

So, what is the given use case? :)

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

Thanks! Activated the auto power now, and it works well. So far I also don‘t get any impression of additional cleaning cycles when the printer powers on. Do you know what the quiet mode actually changes, and how that affects the print head?

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

Makes sense, probably you are right! Do you maybe have a source for that? I‘d be interested to read up on Canon‘s position in the topic. Just spend more than 800 Euro to get my print head replaced and would be happy to change how I treat the printer if it extends its life span. ;)

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

I have not analyzed this myself, but from what I saw in articles and reviews when I got the PRO-1000 it seemed to me the consensus is that leaving it on saves ink. When powered off and then powered on the printer is supposed to run a larger cleaning cycle, while when left on, the cleaning cycle...

PRO-1000: High Density Fine Art Paper and the top feed

Hi, I am using Hahnemühle's Photo Rag paper a lot, and for the PRO-1000 Hahnemühle recommends the media type High Density Fine Art Paper. On my printer I have therefore setup a custom media type based, on the High Density Art paper base type. Unfortunately those media types are limited to the...

Keep your printer turned on 24/7 or power it down after every use?

Same here, my PRO-1000 is always on. However, I don‘t think it does any automatic cleanings as long as no print job is triggered. And the consensus seems to be that leaving it on actually saves ink, because the printer runs more elaborate cleaning cycles when being powered on.

    Maxify is the Pitts..

Ah, thanks, learned something again, did not know that "Maxify" is a printer series from Canon. 🙈

What printer model are we talking about here?

PRO-1000 - access print head when printer is blocked by B204

Yes, me and the technician agreed that this is not well designed, there should be better access for such cases where the print head cannot move anymore. In terms of economics a new printer would for sure have been the better choice. It is hard for me to guess how much ink was used in filling...

PRO-1000 - access print head when printer is blocked by B204

Printer is now working again, after putting in a new print head. It was quite a piece of work, even in service mode the print head refused to come out, so the technician had to take the printer apart to get to it. All in all it cost me 893 €, while a new printer would have come to 988 €. So when...

PRO-1000 - access print head when printer is blocked by B204

Hmmm, tried to play with the different buttons of the PRO-1000 but no luck. I agree that getting a new printer would probably be more economical. But my gut feels better with getting the one fixed that I have. Already have an appointment with a service technician and will keep you posted on the...
