When you need Canon's attention, just replace all the refilled carts with new OEM ones. There is no way that Canon will know you have been using the chip resetter or the bypassing method.

Canon printers are cheap but their ink carts are expensive. Try using printers that can use compatible carts or using OEM carts which can be reset. The OEM carts in IP4200 can be reset whereas the there are compatible carts for PGI-820 and CLI821 carts.
Definitely, all Canon printers are good, but the OEM carts are expensive. It is a practice that Canon stops producing a certain model when users start using compatible carts for the model.
