    Purging vs Empty Cartridges

I replaced the carts and did nozzle check. Result is good. So I don't have clogged nozzles. Thank you, ghwellsjr, for the help on this. Also for info re low ink warning (that previous owner said I would get with several of these carts) I was thinking I would buy a set of Canon carts to use while...

    Purging vs Empty Cartridges

Thanks for all the info. These are not CLI-8 carts but BCI-6. I recall reading somewhere on this site that CLI-8 ink can be used in BCI-6 carts, but I assume the ink is not the same. Am I wrong?

    Purging vs Empty Cartridges

How do I know if the ink is dried up? I was told this ip5000 was used a week ago but cyan and/or magenta are low--give warning. For that reason I have not even hooked machine up yet. The cartridges were taken out. I'm looking at them but can't tell. I notice that that yellow has some liquid ink...

    Purging vs Empty Cartridges

Thanks, Rod. Now I understand. One more question. Maybe this is covered somewhere already. I don't need to purge before the first time I refill, or do I?

    Purging vs Empty Cartridges

Thanks. Sorry if this seems dense, but if they're not purged--in effect "empty"--what's the point? Seems like this would only be for someone who doesn't have a set of Canon carts with their printer. Again, am I missing something?

    Purging vs Empty Cartridges

I have another newbie question. Was getting ready to order SquEasy bottles from OctoInk and noticed that site sells empty CLI-8 cartridges for 41 cents each. At that price, why bother with purging? Am I missing something here?

    Pro9000 II vs ip4500

Yeah I'm thinking I will use the ip5000 as you say, to learn refill ropes. Will hold off on buying the pro9000 (hoping the $200 rebate comes again. I'm a bit wary since I'm not handy with machines or the handyman type. I think I will try the SquEasy bottles with German method. Which means I...

    Pro9000 II vs ip4500

Thanks, Irv, Rod, Hat. My situation changed all in one day. I lost out on the ip4500 but bought an ip5000 through Craigslist for $20. I think this uses BCI-6 ink. If so then I could use CLI-8 ink in it (according to another thread), is that right? If so then I could still use the same ink in...

    Pro9000 II vs ip4500

I've been lurking on this forum for over a week, trying to accumulate info to make informed printer purchase. If I was in an urban area I would simply wait for a good Canon used bargain, but I don't have that option. So I've narrowed my choice down to ip4500 vs Pro9000 II. The latter because...
