Many thanks for these responses. I've replaced the cyan and yellow cartridges, in case it's a leak issue. Got lucky and found (original Canon) printhead on Amazon, under the wrong heading (last one and described as "Laser Toners", for some reason) for only £14. So that's in the drawer in case...
