You are probably right. But my thinking is that I have nothing really to loose. As I’m only using the printer privately, I’m not even sure if I would buy a new one if I would brake something.

Hey, I'm now in the same situation. The printer starts up and presents the the B204 error message right away. The print head doesn't move at all. I've been in contact with the canon service and got almost the same quotation. They kindly provided me with the internal error overview however...
