I just powered up my untested i960 recent purchase.....
It has 4 orange blinks and a green.
If I'm reading the manual right it means "purge sensor".
Can I fix that, or if I have another scrap i960 can I fix it?
I decided to put the head into my scrap i960. This resulted in the orange light...
Well, darn it, but thanks.
I suppose there's nobody making replacement heads for them yet? (there weren't when I was looking for one for the i960 a few years ago).
It;s a real shame, cos I'd buy decently priced heads to keep all my printers running - that's all they need, and it'd save tons and...
Hi,
My Canon i860 halted printing in the middle of a page.
The orange light blinked.
A message was sent to the screen - some error with a 4 digit code.
Unfortunately I thought the problem would just go away with a power on/off and didn't record it. FOLKS - ALWAYS RECORD ERRORS AND BLINKING LIGHT...
I just found a nice looking s900 to add to my collection of BCI 6 cart Canon printers.
It printed on all, but on the yellow it doesn't quite get all the grid printed on the test print.
I processed it today - the big clean - and discovered the prior owners had forgotten to remove the tape for...
I read (somewhere) that the i960 was the replacement for the s900. Both of these having the 6 cartridges.
The i860 (which looks exactly like the i960) is a 5 cartridge printer with one of the 5 being a big pigment Black, and another of the 5 being the dye black (No photo cyan and magents).
I'd searched before posting the prior message, and have again, but haven't found the BCI-3eBK cleaning procedure.
What is the latest method for purge cleaning the the big BCI-3eBK cart?
Does anyone know the web link to the nifty-stuff procedure for this?
In place of the 3/8th Vinyl tube...
The big BCI-3eBK cart - what is currently the best tubing/connectors/parts combination for cleaning/purging it out?
I've seen the 3/8" vinyl tube for the BCI-6 carts.
What's been found to be best for the bigger BCI-3 pigment ink carts?
(Edit - or is this the cart type you don't bother trying to...
I needed to be printing, so took your advice and decided the quickest way to resolve it was buy a new one (I needed a spare anyway).
It seems to be working, although had some banding at the start - I'll keep an eye on it.
I'll be involved with cleaning out the carts and refilling soon - I've...
The printer was printing fine for a while, then I noticed horizontal streaks of white on my black prints.
It got worse.
I looked at the ink and it was empty - no warning - I think there must have been a bad seal at refill time.
Anyway, I filled it.
It printed a couple of good pages and now I'm...
I forgot to tell you the title only lasts for 24 hours....
then we're in the dark again learning from eachother.
anyway, you really did save my bacon - I have to get some very important prints out this week. Thanks!
You are a true gem Mr. Embguy.
Grease removed from timing strip.
The old printer's chugging away again - true, not wobbly.
I suppose I didn't know anything about that strip when I was hauling the sheet from the printer - got knuckles in grease and touched strip. It's probably good for anyone...
Did it myself.
It just bends - I was sure it would crack and break, but it didn't.
Just fit your hand in under it - bend - and hope for the best...
Hope this helps you!
Is the timing strip that bit of see-thru plastic at the front - seems to go from one side of the printer to the other, behind the back of the printhead? Looks a bit like some slightly wider cassestte tape, but without the brown magmetic material on it.
What can it be cleaned with - can I harm it...
