Hello, I'm sorry it took me so long to go through the next steps. I did soak the print head again, this time just in dish detergent solution and then rinsed with distilled water letting it dry for at least 24 hours. Then I changed to my back up cartridges while I flushed the original cartridges...

I just let the print head sit in about 1/4 inch of fluid. I periodically filled the ink inlet area with fluid that I siphoned from a straw, but the ink inlets were not consistently submerged.
