i1 Studio vs. Datacolor Spyder Print Profile comparisons

I own the Spyder 3 and find the strip reading totally useless as it's prone to constant misreadings. I now only use the single patch method, which is very slow, but it is also fairly reliable. The Spyder can only read some papers accurately enough to create a usable profile, specifically very...

    Optical brighteners, longevity, and you.

Most papers have a slight yellowish cast. The OBAs add a bit of blue to counteract that and, if used in just the right amount, can give the paper a more neutral white appearance. Look for papers with just a small amount of OBAs if you're wanting a white base that will only be slightly affected...

reliability info on Epson 20000 wanted

A friend is thinking about buying the Epson 20000 and I was wondering if anyone has any user info or comments on its reliability. One of the reasons I ask is that a local Epson repairman told me he had to replace the head twice on a specific machine within a 18 month period, and I have no way of...

    Best of two cleaning techniques

First of all I'm stubborn, I just wanted to know how to actually clean the nozzles. Second, a new Canon costs $4,000, this was appreciably cheaper.

    Best of two cleaning techniques

You bet, in fact I just fixed mine having the same exact same problem. It seems that the 9900 ink has a tendency to form little flakes inside the head that float around and plug alternating jets. You can run cleaning cycles all you want (and waste lots of ink doing so) but it will never come...

    Epson 7890 internal cleaner

I have a 50/50 mixture of Simple Green and water in my Epson 9900 at the present time. After a few weeks of doing nozzle checks and cleaning cycles all the little flakes of ink that were causing the head to clog are now thoroughly dissolved.

what do the dashes and sloping lines of dashes mean in nozzle check?

All the nozzles are used, but if a few are missing that will affect your color balance slightly. And if an entire head drops out you'll really notice it.

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 - size and general query.

Borderless printing always creates over spray inside the printer. To absorb that over spray the printer has sponges placed inside at specific intervals along the printing track. That interval is what determines what width of paper the printer will allow borderless printing. If you fool the...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 - size and general query.

That's good to know. I'll have to start saving my empty 9600 ink cartridges to refill with HD ink.

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 - size and general query.

Glad to help. I had the same problem trying to find the same info on the 9900 to see if it would fit into my back bedroom (now printing room). It wouldn't as it's 10" longer and so it's now in my store room. Just make sure you get a clean nozzle check before buying 9600. Once plugged they're a...

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 - size and general query.

I use OEM only. I would like to be able to use the OEM inks for the Epson 9900 in the 9600 but was concerned about them damaging the printer, or at least not working correctly. Profiles I can make for myself.

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 - size and general query.

That I didn't know. Have you tried using K3 or HD ink in a 9600 or 7600 printer without any problems (wouldn't want to ruin my machine)?

Epson Stylus Pro 9600 - size and general query.

It's 23" at its widest point due to the ink receptacle sticking out 5" inches from the rest of the printer, and it can't be removed AFAIK. The other two dimensions are 21.5" tall and 64" long. Also don't tip it if there's any ink in it as it will easily spill (I lost a good pair of pants...

Epson 9900 green channel clog question

I appreciate those who tried to help. I did have a chance to call Epson on Monday and was told that unlike 8 color printers, where the green and some other colors are made from a mix of other inks, the extra Green and Orange inks in the 10 color printers are pure and so when their channels are...

Epson 9900 green channel clog question

I'm not sure how to apply your suggestion since I have an Epson printer, not a Canon one.
