InkJet Guru?...
I say InkJet Master!
You were right, emerald. There's a bundle of brown and purple wires that run to the control panel from the printer. I had taped these together and I think the carriage was just catching the bundle as it went to the far right. I tucked them in better...
Thanks emerald,
You were a big help!
I gotta a question though, now that I've got the outer case back on. (Putting the printer back in the case was the hardest part of this whole process.)
The printer isn't very silent. It makes a moderate kchunk noise as the carriage moves about. Is this...
Success!!!! :D
I replaced the magenta ink cartridge, and just completed a successful printhead alignment.
Looks like I've got a couple clogged nozzles still though:( even after a deep cleaning. Maybe I'll soak the printhead again.
Gonna clean everything up, and put the case back together...
My thoughts exactly!
I asked canon online what the deal was, I'll see what they have to say.
Though I'm mystfied why this is happening now. The cartridge was recognized when I had loaded the purge unit without the broken part, and the printer did all the good start up stuff. No blinking alarm...
Hey emerald,
I was just updating my last post while you were responding. See my Edit.
Gorilla Glue... yes, so far it appears to be holding. I've tried it twice. First time, I got ahead of myself (I do that sometimes) and tried it after 8 hours, after trimming off the excess glue, and placing...
Okay, for anyone who can help, here's what's happening.
When I put the cartridges in the printhead, they light up. Closing the top cover switch results in the cartridges turning off as the carriage returns to home. As the carriage begins to move again, the cartridges each turn on, one at a...
Damn, if its not one thing, it's another...
Okay, so I've used Gorilla Glue on the gear and axel in question, and let cure for a day.
Setting up the print this time, resulted in an an error 1410, with my magenta ink tank blinking. It's never been used, the ink is still wet. Never did this on...
Nice one Stratman :D
Anyway, a quick update...
OK, I got ahead of myself. I decided to try one of the contact cements again on the gear and axel. The first time I tried it, I only let it dry for 6 hours or so. This time I let it dry for almost 30 hours. Please, no Einstein jokes.
I put...
Hey all,
Thought we might return to the topic of purge units.
I've reassembled the purge unit for my ip5200, with the repairs I had made. It would be a little difficult to describe these repairs without pictures (which I have), so I'll just say that it involved, a hairdrier, GOOP, tape, a...
I hope you're right emerald,
I am thinking about swapping the purge unit, if I can get a good price. The one you mentioned doesn't seem too bad. I've seen a few, but the shipping is outrageous.
Canon actually gave me their parts number for Canada (that's where I live), so I'll try them too...
Thanks emerald,
As I said, the purge unit is not fully reassembled at this time... but is installed.
The purge unit has tubes running from the purge pads, into a cylindrical housing. I noted in my earlier posts that I believed one of the carousel-cylinder units within this housing was the...
Thanks emerald,
So, from what you've written the carriage is moving properly. Mid-position when lid is open, parked right when closed. It also sounds as if the cartridge lights are supposed to be off, when the lid is closed, which mine are doing.
Anyone have any ideas on why there is no ink...
Hi all,
I've got some questions for y'all...
I decided to test the printer as is. I've had a few problems which I think are related.
I mentioned a post or 2 ago, that my ink cartridges were lighting up. I realized that the top cover microswitch which I had taped down had come loose. Taping it...
Hi Guys,
Something new... Maybe a setback, maybe not. Last night when I was testing the printer, I was getting through startup and ending with a solid green light; however my ink cartridges were not lighting up. The carriage was parking over the purge unit.
Today, I tried startup, and now I'm...
Partial Success! :D
OK, if you've been following the posts, you know that I identified 2 related problems with the purge unit in my ip5200:
1. the main gear running the purge-unit had been stripped from its mount, due to
2. a "carousel-cylinder" set coming apart within the purge unit housing...
