what method should i use to clear the printhead? i just went to go buy some windex, ziplocks and alcohol

i think i'm in a bad spot. i actually have an canon ip4000 sitting in the corner for over 6 months without preping it for storage. the inktanks are in the printhead, and it's in the printer...probably dried up by now...okay..so far i removed the cartridge from the ip4000, they still had half ink...

i was more worried about the ink that's already in there drying up, and clogging. i read the links but there seems to be conflicting answers. would this be an issue? what would be the best approach.

i bought a used ip6000d from a friend. i have one right now and wanted a backup. is it bad to keep it stored with the ink tank in there?

need something with cheap cartridge refills and put lots of outputs. i usually print text and coupons. photo printing is rarely. i've been looking into the canon ip4000,ip5000,ip6000 but been having trouble tracking one for a good price. any other recommendations? doesn't need to be canon, just...
