3D Printing Best Modeling / Creation Software?

I've just watched my third tutorial in the FreeCAD Academy series. It constructs a simple part with a hole in it. The tutorial is in two parts. First it creates the part the way the official documentation says to do it. Then it shows that if you do this and subsequently make any changes the...

3D Printing Best Modeling / Creation Software?

Well, it's good to know it's possible to keep local copies. But I agree, it's not exactly simple. So I prefer using software like OpenSCAD where by default designs are saved where you want them to go.

3D Printing Best Modeling / Creation Software?

For me, one advantage of OpenSCAD vs Fusion 360 is that I have anything I created with OpenSCADis on my PC. I did actually create something quite useful in Fusion 360 and it would have been more difficult in OpenSCAD. But my Fusion 360 model is in the cloud, I had a trial version of Fusion 360...

3D Printing Best Modeling / Creation Software?

Like you OpenSCAD is what I use. Unlike you, I print a model maybe once a year, and I have to refresh my memory how to design parts. So I have to remind myself what Minkowski is for example. Each time I think maybe I'll learn something else, then just go back to OpenSCAD because it's familiar...

Creality CR10 Mirror Busted - New Magnetic Flex Sheet Print Bed

I use these printed clips to hold down the glass. They're less likely to get in the way than metal clips. SCAD file is something like this: x_thickness=7; y_thickness=5; gap=4.75; //from bottom of bed to top of glass width=20; //width of clip (along bed) arm=7; //length of arm...

    The cost of Filament

Fantastic price for two rolls of PLA Last time I bought filament, 1 roll of PETG RealFilament from Holland was about the same price in pounds as the two PLA rolls here in euros. That was before Brexit. AliExpress is not now shipping to the UK from the link above. The Brexit effect is just as...

    Anet A2 replacement mainboard

I have an Anet A8. I think it has the same mainboard as the Anet A2, though I'm not certain. Soldering looks OK on mine, and I've had no problems with the board. The main concern is the stock firmware on it, which doesn't have thermal protection. So a few years ago, I planned to replace the...

    Feed mechanism on MX925?

In my case, it's most likely that the cause of the B200 error is the "usual" printer head/logic board problem, because I'd already had to replace the print head two years ago following use of sub standard refillable cartridges. Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's definitely worth...

Fun 3D Printing Tools - Self Tapping Drill Bits

Am I correct you're planning to use as inserts in a model? How do you get them embedded in a print?

    Feed mechanism on MX925?

@The Hat Did you dismantle a Maxify to determine this?

    Feed mechanism on MX925?

The Maxify 5150 has a default ECO setting to switch off after 4 hours. With previous Canon printers, I suspected that frequent powering up and down increased the number of cleaning cycles, and I avoided doing this. I'm tempted to turn off the auto power down on the Maxify. Does anyone have any...

    Blame the 3D designer…

Sorry to hear this. TBH I would have been amazed if it had survived a full blown gale. But I'm ready to be amazed when the improved version is installed.

    Feed mechanism on MX925?

I skipped from the first page to the last page of the thread. Didn't take long. I gave up refilling two years ago. I now have lot more time to do productive work, like messing around with 3D printers:weee It was the MX925 I've just ditched that finally persuaded me two years ago. I'd used some...
