As I said earlier, the only thing I've done that has made my problem go away is to buy and use OEM cartridges at $20 CDN each.
I don't find that financially reasonable, so have sent my photos out for printing this Christmas.
I find that particularly galling, since other people find this printer...
You are right, fotofreak, that if you print to plain paper, best quality, with the Pro9000Mark II, you will get a neutral coloured print.
But it is very unsaturated - faded looking. It is by no means better than my most recent results with settings to print on photo paper.

Hey! Thank you for that Canadian reference, Rod.
That is going to save me money.
Also, they sell flanged silicon(e) plugs, in case I ever lose one again.
Dave S.
I can't give you a yes or no answer to that, but thanks for asking.
When I print the composite image:

I am not getting the brown tint in the B&W parts as I did when I first wrote about this topic.
That's good!
The section with the portrait of the blond...
Thanks for drawing my attention to the added "e". Until then it went completely over my head.
I have previously known about the difference between silicon and silicone, but didn't care enough to check whether I was using the right one.
In justification of that stance, look at OctoInkJet's...
I see that you are a lover of hyperbole.
The cartridges that I am using are OEM.
I do agree that the plugs ought not to come out accidentally.
Other manufacturer's methods that I have used have never come out accidentally.
But when I researched inks for this printer, OctoInkJet received a high...
The mystery of the missing silicon plug has been solved.
Whatever cartridges are not currently in my printer are stored in a sealed plastic bag.
I found the errant plug in that bag.
That means that after I had replaced the C, PC, M, and PM refilled cartridges in the printer with OEM cartridges...
I'm not sure what you're asking.
Yes, there originally was a silicon stopper for each cartridge, and yes, to the best of my recollection, the stopper has been used to fill each hole after every refill.
If not, the ink would have poured out of the cartridge.
So can they pop out while in the...
It is disturbing to read that OctoInk produces quite different results from Canon ink.
But there are things that disturb me even more, and one of those is finding that I've made a terrible error.
For a several days now, when I print a page, my printer has told me that cartridges are nearly...
Progress!
Today I needed to print some photos of a birthday party.
Attempt 1: using all OctoInkJet ink, blue wall is quite faint, flesh tones way too red
Attempt 2: change Cyan to Canon ink cartridge, do deep cleaning group 2, result deeper blue, still overly rosy flesh tones
Attempt 3: change...
When I use Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-105, of which I have quite a few 4 X 6, I can't find a profile for that one.
But I have tried Ilford Galerie Smooth Gloss, and Classic Pearl, for which I have and use the downloaded profiles, and Red River Polar Pearl Metallic, Arctic Polar Luster, and...
Having been provoked into action, I printed both photos, the blue poppy and the MatrixLarge from NorthLight Images.
You're right, refill ink is cheap, but photo paper is not, so I restricted my test print to 4 X 6.
I'm sorry to say that the defects are back; :( the blue poppy is quite magenta...
I have recently had the same problem, with the same printer and same inks.
I have had the printer about 1 year, and I started using OctoInkJet inks as soon as the first OEM cartridges needed refilling.
I haven't tried any major photo printing until this month, and my first attempt was a...
