it's from using rappy BLACK ink carts... I don't use them any more...just Canon brand. But the CMY I use generic.
the purging pump inside the printer gets clogged and cannot prime the head once clogged...you have to take printer apart and clear the lins manually....dry hard pieces will come...
yeah... my cyan totally cross contaminated into the magenta and yellow.
took them all out and threw them away...put another brand in.... seems 'ok'. but who knows. when doing the test pattern... seems not to produce a very BLACK mix of CM & Y. instead...light brown..until i do yet ANOTHER...
i woonder if it possible for the CYAN color to be sucked up into the other carts via the nozzles when head is at rest overnight, if it is leaking enough? i am having this same prob with ip3000. new head also...so don;t hink it's the head but the cyan cart (generic cart).
i think there are services that you can send pritns to a fax machine via cell phone?
i remeber seeing something like this doing a search for "how does thermal printing" on howstuffworks.com? and i saw a bunch a crap about what u r asking in the sponsered links? try that.
thnax for the clarification...it's been awhile since i was looking into the ALPS... great idea about that metallic stuff you mention...saw it on TV... two goofy woman were using to decorate schit. Maybe it could be used to decorate hood ornaments, grilles, running boards, and ultimately...
thanx for the info. I am guessing it's just this particualr magenta or cyan cart. i will continue to use unitl empty then put another in..hopefully will ok then.
hopefully it isn't the head gasket.
my IP3000 is starting to do the same thing...but my Magenta portion of the head is spitting out cyan (or the cyan is running into the magenta section)..until I do a cleaning. Have to do everyday also it seems...seems to leak overnight. Clean 3 times or...
if all fails... more than likely the PURGE UNIT/lines pump is clogged. have to take apart and purge manually with syringe and hot water...not scolding just hot tap water. if the the pump cannot PRIME the ink....then u won't get any ink out. the lines or purge unit/ or capping station where...
the OLD and slow ALPS 5000 printers can do this...look on ebay. they are old and goinf for rediculous prices though for pepole who want them for doing dye-sub printing etc. The porinter uses I think wax ribbons and also resin ribbons. I think the resin ones are better and last longer or...
i think the PIEZO printheads from epson use a crystal or something that when energized cause a OIL CAN effect...that pushes out the ink droplets.
I know that's how XAAR piezo heads work in high end Solvent Ink printers... these heads aren't cheap... abot $400-$800 a head I think.... that is for...
believe it or not... i think a LOT of EL STUPIDO people that have NO clue about ink cost etc buy HP printers...which are heavily advertised..and LOTS of businesses buy them...because the people that work for these businesses aren't USING "their own" money when sent down to COSTO to buy HP in...
sounds like you are having the same problem that I had with my ip3000. purge unit/lines were clogged from the black pigment cartridges i was using for a while (they were cheapies, $1.00 cart from www.summitimage.com). When using aftermarket ink etc, should go in expecting things not to be...
here's a quick one:

i used a differnt one that was cheaper at the time, can't remember. many out there.
the manuals are pretty genral anyways. the PARTS manual is what u need that comes with all of them...shows the printer exploded.

this probbaly the LOWEST price u will find for a NEW genuine Cnaon printhead. I have a IP3000, had head problems after hundreds of prints, fixed it...but now my S600 after several years is starting to give me problems...but it's done more than it's...
