Thanks for the info, The Hat.
Is the OEM ink like a cleaner or something? What's the difference? So.....is it more likely a print head failure, as opposed to a clog? Is air in there a possibility at all?
Really? What about one of the pharmacist's solutions? Or removing and cleaning the...
I can't really see that weird pattern in the white band in the BK in these photos. Can you guys see them ok? Well, anyhow, I'll post a close-up of it here, just in case it helps to figure out whether this is printhead failure or clog or whatever.
Please see attached 2 files (hopefully that works ok). The first one is the original nozzle check done a week or two ago, the second is the one from today, #19, and I have 17 more nozzle checks in between these two. I'm refilling OEM carts with PC inks. This is the first problem ever with...
So, ok....just "giving my head a shake" here. So, basically, this is what I'm seeing as my options:
1) Buy ARC chips from aliexpress to put on the oem carts.
2) Buy the clear type cartridges with ARC chips.
Am I missing anything? Are there any other options?
You did? Hmmm....I'm not seeing that post here anywhere. Anyway, now I'm just wondering if there might be anything else you said that I'm missing out on......?

I have the MB5120 and love it!
That looks like quite a read....I'll have to tackle it one of these days, thanks.
Glad to hear you love it....may I ask how you are refilling yours?
I'm in Canada, so hoping for a supplier who is also in Canada. Looking for refillable cartridges and inks for the MB5120. Suggestions....? Also, anybody know if the Precision Colors inks for the PGI-1200 will work in the MB5120?
When storing filled or partially filled cartridges, is it necessary/advisable to tape over the air vent? (I previously did this with 4 carts, and one of them overflowed through the air vent. They are CLI-8, if that makes a difference.)
I think I may now have somewhat of a theory as to why this happened: (?)
The story from the beginning: I'm printing a 5 copy print job. The first 2 copies are fine, then on the last 3 copies, there are horizontal lines. Proceeded with nozzle checks, cleanings, and test prints of my cmy and...
Neither. I bought it from an online retailer 5 years ago. And, Yes!, there is a serial number stamp on the upper left corner of the bag. Hadn't noticed that before, thanks for that info, Martin0reg.
How do you print uni-directionally?
If I continue printing with this printer as is, will this problem cause more problems, or is it possible it could keep on for some time yet?
