Why are colored inks used when printing grayscale?

I was just curious. I didn't understand why I was using up colored ink when I'm just printing grayscale.

Why are colored inks used when printing grayscale?

I'm currently using a MB5120 but this has happened with all the Canon printers I have used.

Why are colored inks used when printing grayscale?

Just curious as to why the color ink seems to get depleted when I'm only printing grayscale? Is there some kind of 'mini cleaning cycle' going on whenever I print something? I would think only the black ink would be used.

How can I install only printer drivers for MB5120?

Thanks but I am using that driver. It has fax in it.

How can I install only printer drivers for MB5120?

Basically, I don't want the fax drivers. Is there a way to uninstall just the fax drivers?

It's still no better. I think it's new printhead time. Don't even buy from this guy? https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Genuine-Canon-QY6-0087-000-printhead-for-Maxify-IB4020-MB2020-MB2320-MB5020/224346590629?ss

Is it safe to assume that my problems will be fixed with buying a new print head? I'm still getting streaks when printing. I don't get any print errors. These print heads are expensive. Is it safe to buy one (OEM not made in China) from someone on ebay to save a few bucks?

Yeah, they don't sell that Ajax Kitchen in the US. Sounds like it might be similar to Formula 409 in the US.

I'm not sure what you mean by the nozzle check is good to go. They are still not perfect and I'm still getting streaks on printed pages. Granted I've only tried to print one picture after a couple of different flushes. How many printed pages do you feel would get the nozzle check perfect?

    Need help with MB5120

I guess it's possible that the head is electrically damaged but each print check for black fills in more and more blocks so I wouldn't think it is electrical. It just seems weird that it is not totally unclogged as many times as I have cleaned this. It sounds like I just need to keep cleaning it.
