Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Hi all CP Users over here. I still have 3 sets of printheads and cleaningheads, unclogged and in their carrying plastic boxes, plus think another set or two in their cardboard boxes. If someone wants them on the cheap just PM me. They're taking space and may have to throw them away soon, which...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

No, as said I've saved them for someone like yourself. Contact me by PM to arrange how you could get them (mind I'm in Europe).

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Just a final update: the printer's hdd crashed so with great regret decided it isn't worth the effort anymore and threw it away. Reworked the base though and it became a nice double-desk for other stuff. (Still have plenty of unclogged printheads if someone's interested to get them cheap.)...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

(Sorry admin for talking alone). Today, I finally turned the printer on. It's very quiet! Have a couple of initial questions to AlienSteve or someone with experience in this series: - After some init noises, the screen stopped at "Missing ink system. Install -->" which is not there as I'm still...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

(Can edit the post above anymore.) @AlienSteve: your approach looks more solid in the long-term indeed, but I have no idea yet where to buy such specialized medical supplies, and had a fat syringe to try that out at least.

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Okay, was able to get the air out of the tubes in a few minutes, thanks to the method of @feedthisway on the first page. It works and it's quite straightforward! In his words: I was able to make a couple photos of the process (have stained hands now lol). Really need a fat syringe because its...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

@PeterBJ: Thanks, useful site! :) @AlienSteve: The fellow of the link above provided by Peter has modified his tool because it may damage the nozzles. His tool seems a lot like yours, Steve. Perhaps is worth having a look at this.

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

That's really eye-opening to me, Steve. Had the hard conviction that this wasn't possible for the stubborn ancient dry cases. Thanks for that! I'm ordering the isopropyl and ammonia as we speak. Just washed clean under running water the waste cartridges one by one (hope that doesn't damage...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Thanks. I understand tearing down as a last resort. Is a solution able to dissolve dye and pigment sediments alike of all ages, and getting all that junk through the nozzles only? The guy that opens HP85/84 (used in my Designjet 130) does it in a way that doesn't destroy the printhead. Tried it...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Great Info, thank you! I bought that same kind of tool yesterday: You're right about Windex. Mentioned it more as a household name kind of thing. Surely one has to be careful what puts inside cartridges. Thanks for this, was exactly thinking yesterday it should be a difference with HP45...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Okay, have been reading some more. Refilling HP 45 or cleaning it with Windex using that same method doesn't seem a too big of a deal. It will require getting a ball bearing ball off at the bottom though. Also there are refilling kits that would avoid touching the ball for less stubborn cases...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Good to know, Steve. The 2500CP of mine had been in storage for a while, so I'm afraid most of the ph it came with (3 sets) may be clogged with dried ink now. There are instructions in youtube of how to open up other HP ph (like HP 84/85), and hope to find something similar now for the HP 45...

Refilling HP Designjet CP series printers

Good to know you're still here. Got a 2500CP lately and hope to get it running soon. Have you got around the refilling (and eventual printhead reset) issue? EDIT: A potentially useful thing I learned is that UV ink for HP 5000/5500 should work in the CP's, as formulation is the same, according...

    alx359 intro

Hi everyone! I'm sort of a jack-of-all-trades guy that does art prints as a side job and also likes tinkering with stuff when time permits (lately teared apart, cleaned up and changed the service station of a Designjet 130 I own and it still works. Gray-ish blacks seemed another common issue...
