Hi,

I'm in the market for a color laser printer. Can anyone recommend a printer or two. So I have some requirements and then a wish list and I'm sure if it meets the wish list it will be a good bit more expensive. Wondering if anyone an make a rec or two on just the requirements, and also the wish list.

Requirements:

Color
Print/Copy/Scan
Refillable (hopefully the manufacturer did not take steps to make it difficult)
Decent toner and paper capacity. I print a lot of black and white 30-50 page documents, I'd like to only have to fool with refilling toner and paper ever great while.
Wireless printing

Wish list:

Extra large toner and paper capacity.
High 'maximum monthly duty cycle'
Ability to duplex print on a heavier card stock maybe #60 minimum #80 preferably.
Higher rate of printing.

The requirements are basically for normal office printing.

The wish list would allow me to print my own 8.5x11" jumbo postcards without a great deal of trouble restocking paper or toner, which is something I've been wanting to do for a while. 5-10k per month - 2 sided 8.5 x 11 - 60-80# or whatever the equivalent of the USPS minimum thickness is, I think it is around 60#.

Hi @rltrdc, welcome to PrinterKnowledge.com, I have found that members tend to be a little reluctant to recommend printer models for some reason and lasers are less frequently discussed than inkjet.

But be patient and someone will eventually express an opinion.:)

Would also be beneficial to indicate your location.
There are significant national and regional differences in models and availability.

@rltrdc, Your quest for this illusive laser printer maybe never ending, frankly your requirements and wish list just don’t exist in one single package.

Your only opportunity for anything remotely similar to your requirements would be a commercial digital laser printer costing thousands that is very durable and hard wearing with a very high duty cycle, and straight through paper path to cater for heavy stock.

But unfortunately, they don’t come with Wi-Fi, Copy or Scan facilities, you can get a Duplexer, but again that would cost you an extra $500 alone, and this Duplexer can’t handle heavy stock, it would require you to do a second pass...

Okay, could you recommend a printer based on just the basic requirements?

@rltrdc, OKI is a brand that I have used and can recommend the A3+ model, but you’ll need to see a demonstration of the machine before you commit to purchase, take along a small file to print and a few postcards, you must also get a model with a straight paper path, otherwise card stock have a huge tendency to jam...

Can you say anything in general about the Xerox I picked out? Its specs seem good enough?

Are either Xerox or OKI hard get or fill toner?
