Cakehole, if you read the other thread---I contacted them as soon as I opened the box, they told me to call back next week. It's been over the weekend when there customer service is closed.

I'm not the kind of person that waits a month for a printer, then doesn't try to use it. Considering this seems to be a standard issue I'm having according to the reviews I figured someone on here more knowledgeable than I might have suggestions on how to clear the nozzles manually. I like fixing my problems, not handing them back and giving up easily.

You should not had used it. Them telling you to call next week was unacceptable, the item should have a warranty refurb or not and you are entitled to send it back.

I can understand you wanting to use the printer and not wait but if it was damaged already upon arrival it was perhaps a little silly to hope for the best rather than assume the worst.

My advice, take the refund and move on, find an alternative and buy NEW this time. Love is not always a 2 way street, you may want the R2000 but clearly in this case due to mysteries of the universe it does not seem to want you

Yep, after the lovely phone call and escalating to a manager that may be what I need to do CakeHole. I told them I wanted to buy a new printer with the credit and they seemed less than helpful. They still haven't sent me an RMA to return and refused to make a pickup with fedex earlier than 9/19. It has to be returned and then they have to go through issuing a refund to my card which can take up to 30 days. I asked them why they couldn't just credit my account so I could immediately purchase a NEW R2000. I was told because it just didn't work like that.

I figured I had nothing to lose by using it except a few sheets of paper. I still haven't lost anything by doing that. If I was waiting on a refurb---I would still be waiting. I decided to take the refund and it looks like I'll still be waiting. I've only lost TIME and become angry with the company because of how I've been treated.

I have this wonderful thing called a credit card I used---so I can reverse the charge if they want to decline my refund after they receive it. If they have an issue with me using the ink----then they can refund my money for the paper it messed up. I had a 30 day return policy and a 1 year warranty.

Which leads to the next question----Suggestions for a reasonably priced pigment based printer that is not Epson? If I have to deal with them I will but right now, I want to know my options.

The only other NON EPSON pigment 13" printer is the CANON PRO-10 which is the middle of the newish Trifecta from CANON.

Not only does it print basically perfectly out of the box, there is brand new proven 3rd party ink support for it and you refill the ORIGINAL carts to provide the same OEM reliability.

Looks like I just missed an AMAZING deal on the Pro-10 too. You have me debating on getting 2 printers now. One as a workhorse and the other as a backup.

You can't beat the price of OEM ink on the R2000 right now. I'm a little leery using aftermarket ink before my warranty is up. Printer potty sure, but after all of this trouble I'm terrified something might happen with the ink.

I've only been on here a few days and you guys have been so helpful.

@CakeHole gah thank you I fee like I need it now. 3rd time's a charm? When it printed right, it printed great. I am a tattoo artist by trade and was purchasing to update my portfolio as well as make prints of my actual paper art. Everyone was impressed with the good ones.

It looks like I'll suck it up and get a new R2000. I'll deal with the refund later since it looks like I'll be out a few weeks to a month (still sending it back or course, that just seems to be their timeline to refund ME).

And if I can find an awesome rebate on the Canon 10 like BandH just had, I'll snag one of them too.

If you are concerned about ink costs you could maybe go for a laser or cheaper ink jet for common stuff like text documents and basic images and the more expensive printer for photos, artwork etc. Personally i would not bother, if you buy quality refill ink you should not have an issue. If as jtoolman stated you are in the USA or Canda then Precisioncolors for bulk ink is a good supplier of quality Image specialist ink which many on this forum use with no issues. Its not a 100% perfect match to original OEM ink but its pretty darn close you hardly notice unless you put images side by side and really look for the differences. I am currently using this brand of ink from Octoink in the UK in my Canon MP610 and im very pleased with it, my printer only has a black cart as pigment ink but the text from that looks every bit as good as from an original Canon cart.

I have a cheap laser printer.

I wanted a fancy one. When I got response from Jtoolman about my R1900 issue he suggested the R2000 for the print quality. Im printing almost all on matte watercolor paper too. He explained the OEM ink was 12-20 dollars for a whole 8 color set. That made my ears perk up. But I would think that by installing an aftermarjet continuous ink system would void the warranty. I don't care to pay a high price for ink, but why would I when I don't have to? Obviously the price is mute now. I have a new R2000 on its way. And am $800 poorer. But it will pay for itself. That's all i can look at.

Do NOT bother with CISS more trouble than they are worth, refill carts is the way to go

I saw a post on tge german refill method? Is this what you are talking about or is there an actual refill cartridge? As you can see with my luck everything that can go wrong typically does, are there any drawbacks or warnings? Like if i use *insert ink name here* my printer will self destruct?

OK German method is strictly for CANON sponge carts. Not EPSON.

Like I said earlier get real OEM carts from EBAY for your new R2000. They are ridiculously cheap $15 to $25 a full set depending where you shop from.
Best quality and cheapest price.
You can then recycle them at STAPLES for credit on office goods.

And if you are worried about warranty, then stick with the OEMs from EBAY then once it expires you can switch to Refillable Carts from a good seller. Here in this forum you can always count on Precision Colors.

For what you intend to use this printer for, your new R2000 will be more than adequate and will produce the best prints of your art work.
