Hello nifty-stuff community, you guessed it... I'm new to this forum :D. So my question: does anybody know something about compatible ink by Peach? It's a Swiss brand that is supposed to be better than most of the competition selling compatible cartridges. My printer is a MP610 by Canon. I've noticed Peach cartridges have a slightly different physical appearance than most other compatibles. The chip has been moved to the top of the clip as well. They've also created some sort of unique snap in system for combi cartridges (the kind of CMY cartridges with built in printhead). Their shops: 3PPP3, Buypeach and some others. 3rd party webshops are selling Peach as well, but at a 50% higher price making the Peaches about 25% cheaper than originals.

I've had mediocre experiences with generic compatible ink sold by major Dutch ink webshop 123inkt, and I'm looking for something better now. Refilling with Pharaoh ink (lol) was a disaster/mess so I want to take it easy for a while and pay a bit more for the extra convenience of ready-made cartridges. Peach looks good with the Swiss quality assurance and all. Itis doing well in a lot of tests as well and the first impression seems good if their site is anything to go by.

If you want to learn how to refill your cartridges with good quality ink then do a search on here and
youll come up with dozens of threads on the pros and cons of refilling properly.

As for as peach ink is concerned its probably much the same as all the other ink you were using
also do a search on ink and see what the guys on here are mostly using
but above all only refill your OEM cartridges as compatibles are not really worth refilling..:)

Well I have done a search a couple of times before registering and read all about the OctoInk, Image Specialists and Precision Colors. My first refill experience was a pain so I'm kind of reluctant of messing again with refill materials right now. Paying a bit more and having a ready-made cartridge seems nice. Truth be told, I hadn't read this forum when I first refilled my cartridges.

My problem with the first refill ink I tried was that it made the printhead drip, making it look like a snot nose. The ink slowly ran out of the cart, as if it were lacking in viscosity. The drop certainly blocked a lot of nozzles so prints were looking dreadful. And I was using genuine Canon carts. But if bulk inks like OctoInk don't have this problem AND are better than Swiss-made Peach... then I may just consider to try refilling once more :)

All of them! LOL
Usually a cart that just leaks out means either a bad seal between the exit port and the print head or, the sponge chamber is not sealed. I don't know what refilling method you used so I don't know where your refilling holes are, on the sponge of the ink chamber side.

Oops, that's not what you meant to say, I'm sure. Either the sponge chamber is overfilled, or the other chamber is not sealed.

If you are using the "top fill" method, your cart dripped because of a poor seal at the fill hole. That is the method I use, but some are now using the "german" method. Don't give up with just the first try. Refilling original (OEM) canon carts with good quality ink is the way to go. Once you get your work flow organized and have done it a few times you will find it easy and not so messy. You mentioned Octoink with their image specialist ink - a good choice. Buy the squeeze bottles as well for faster, easier, neater refilling.

All the same ink -- Image Specialists ink. Excellent quality for Canon printers.

As others have already said, ink dripping from the ink ejection port, the cylindrical protrusion that contacts the print head circular intake screen, is usually caused by too much ink refilled, a poor seal of the refill hole if you top fill, a force is applied to or in the cartridge such as squeezing the cartridge or a big change in atmospheric pressure, or the ink has heated up unusually. I doubt atmospheric pressure or thermal changes occurred to cause your leak. So the leak was probably due to overfilling or poor seal of a top located refill (if that is how you refill). Squeezing a cartridge causes a leak that usually stops quicker than if you overfilled.

The squeeze bottles with needles and caps/covers is the a good thing, to paraphrase Martha Stewart. You can buy them from Octoink or Howard Electronics. Needles and caps/covers can be had from both etailers as well, though you'd want to see if Howard Electronics will sell/substitute a small number of correctly sized (at least 2 inches in length). Octoink will do this.

Peach is a reputable aftermarket brand in the European market. It had so-so review of the inks used in your printer by druckerchannel a few years ago but then was given high marks for its ink for more recent Canon printer models. Maybe things have changed or you will be satisfied regardless of their opinion.See more at http://www.druckerchannel.de/suche.php?suche_dcartikel=1&suchtext=peach. You can use a translator like Google to read in a different language than German. There are other aftermarket cartridge/chip combos to read about too.

Most here will not recommend refilling anything other that Canon OEM cartridges.

Thanks for all the input :D. I was using the top fill method. A poor seal may have been the cause of the leaking. I used custom carts that came fitted with little plugs on the top side, and an ARC chip. Apparently the plug wasn't fitting snugly.

Long story short: if I use the durchstich method on Canon OEM carts, no more dripping from the ejection port? To be sure: no clogging of printheads as well? Unless a regular cleaning cycle is required every month or so, that's no problem.
