Your welcome wobbles.

If the ink level monitoring is turned off then you will have to watch closely the level in the affected cartridges. Besides eyeballing the amount of ink left (the sponge will NOT drain completely of ink before the printer would normally detect and state you need to replace the "empty" cartridge), if the page you print starts streaking or missing color(s) then it's time to replace the cartridge immediately or definately risk burning up the printhead and incurring a larger cost to replace.

If you really want to know if the issue will be resolved by inserting a new, unused OEM cartridge, then go buy one (or borrow one from a friend) and see if the error message goes away and the ink level monitoring returns.

Keep up updated and good luck!

I think your printer is in error from reading the chip on the Yellow ink cartridge. The cartridges is still almost full yet it reads the chip and determines it is empty. This is mostly likely an error that you should talk to a Canon tech support immediately. They probably will send you a replacement new Yellow ink cartridge or they will replace your printer. It's probably the chip on the Yellow ink cartridge is defective.
