Drat!!!

You've won this time The Hat, but I'll be watching you. One day, by golly, your beer will run green and you'll be forced to watch Lord Flatley in River Dance for the 862nd consecutive weekend on your version of Public Broadcasting Service television, complete with fundraising intermissions every 15 minutes.

Aaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!

I bought one of the last iP4700 printers on UK shelves, and yes they are normal full cartridges that can be refilled using the German method. There's enough of a transparent window to see the ink level OK and they're easy to refill. I weighed mine when new (i.e. even before putting them in the printer) and topped up to that weight for peace of mind. 521's were 20gms, 520 was 35gms.

As promised, here's an update:

I bought a kit from a online auction site. The supplier was German and it cost me about 54.

The kit contained the following:

1x 'Redsetter' chip resetter (with AC adaptor)

1 x Sudhaus PGI-520 black 50ml

1x Sudhaus CLI-521 black 50ml
1x Sudhaus CLI-521 cyan 50ml
1x Sudhaus CLI-521 magenta 50ml
1x Sudhaus CLI-521 yellow 50ml

5 x syringes (sharp)
1x plastic gloves
1 x drill bit (with plastic 'wings' to turn it)

It wasn't a cheap option but now I have the restter and syringes it'll just be a case of buying the ink in future.

The instructions contained were easy to follow (very similar to the 'German method' discussed on this forum) and I've had good results so far. I won't go into a quality comparison with the original Canon ink because I don't fancy using up lots of ink printing comparison images and because I think it can be quite subjective. I'll certainly post another update if I start to get dodgy prints though.

And yes, it was very satisfying! :)

Cheers all!
