Any recent data on 3rd party ink longevity / gamut?

Thanks for your input aussierob. Yes, I typically stick with the higher end coated or swellable papers, although I may eventually try some of that fine art media someday. As to profiling, with that I'm all set. Been doing it for years, although with unpredictable results. It hasn't been until I...

Any recent data on 3rd party ink longevity / gamut?

Yes, that makes good sense Rod. I like seeing data, though. :) I think I do remember somewhere seeing a website that had gamut comparisons for some of these inks. Although gamut volume is not necessarily the most important thing.

Any recent data on 3rd party ink longevity / gamut?

Thanks. Good to hear positives from multiple people. Any anecdotal or measured info on how the longevity compares? I read something that suggested OCP inks may have been recently tweaked (maybe over the course of the past year). Curious as to whether anyone has insight into that?

Any recent data on 3rd party ink longevity / gamut?

In particular the 3rd party dye alternatives for the Pro9000 Mk.II. I'm nearing the end of my Canon OEM inks and I think it's time to migrate to one of the more affordable choices. I'd like to find one that is closest to the OEM inks in terms of gamut and longevity. New ink and paper...

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

I'll have to look up that original thread where Grandad described this. I just figured any method of purging that didn't have the stopper ball pulled out would take more time to do.

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

So you're thinking if I try this pressurized pump method, but without the ball pulled from the cart, it should still work - maybe even a bit better for the sponge (if a bit slower)?

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

This one. http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6750 I must be dense. If I don't pull the ball out of the cart, then how does the flushing water "flush out" of the cartridge? Through the tiny little vent path? Wouldn't that take a lot longer?

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

I did look through the Freedom thread. I may have missed a post or two but I didn't find a description of how a cart could be flushed as effectively using this method as compared to the video I posted in msg #3 of this thread.

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

I think if we go with the ball removal method the 5/32" plugs from Precision Colors will work for CLI-8 carts.

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

I want to use this method to flush because it looks to be very thorough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqnZU1u45aQ so I figure the hole will already be there. :idunno

Does flushing a cart naturally lead to a top fill refill method?

Been away for a while but still happily printing away on my Pro9000 Mk.II. I now have a number of used CLI-8 carts hanging around and figured it really is time to try a high quality refill ink. In going back through the techniques I watched a couple of the youtube videos showing how to flush the...

One day color is spot on, the next it's not - why?

Thanks Peter. I had read that browsers don't really have any ability to be color managed but I had no idea there could be small but still noticeable differences like this.

One day color is spot on, the next it's not - why?

Peter, I think it must be due to JPG artifacts. Try as I might I can't see anything like that in the actual print. Actually, when I looked at the posted image it did appear a bit muted and just a bit lighter than the JPG image on my monitor (a calibrated Sony GDM-FW900 CRT). I can't understand...

One day color is spot on, the next it's not - why?

Okay Peter. Here's the image as printed on my Pro9000 Mk. II and scanned with my IT-8 calibrated Epson 1640SU using the full price version of Vuescan. Paper was out of the same batch as recent work. This was using the stock Canon profile. I guess it's really not that bad, but it still gets me...

One day color is spot on, the next it's not - why?

Peter, this is a ton of information. I'd normally use a quote as part of the reply but in this case I'd be quoting the whole thing! So I'll try to provide all the relevant answers. I ran a few print head tests from the Canon driver uklility and they seem to have come out fine so I'm hoping the...

One day color is spot on, the next it's not - why?

Tried that Peter. No problems with the initial check but I ran a clean cycle anyway. No difference. I even rebooted as Bob Petrushka over at dpreview says the Canon drivers sometimes get a little wonky under Win7 x64. No difference there either. It's almost like the printer decided to tease me...

One day color is spot on, the next it's not - why?

So I've been printing up photos to put into a relative's album for a holiday gift and was having a pretty good time of it. I'm using Canon PPP Semi Gloss and Canon inks with my Pro9000 Mark II. I even made a custom profile of the paper with my Datacolor Spyder3Print SR device. With just a bit of...

    Where IS that video?

That's the one slocumeddie! Thanks. I hadn't known about the link with the instructions - thanks as well for that. What's interesting is that in the video a holder is being used so that carts can be swapped out easily, not shown in the link with the instructions. I like the idea of that holder...

    OCP Ink

Steve, I would love to hear your impressions of these three inks with respect to how well they match the OEM colors, which appears to have a larger gamut, truer colors, better shadow and highlight resproduction and any other obseravtions you may have made. Thanks.
