I seems that most, if not all, Epson printers can be used with either dye or pigment ink. Is that the same for Canon? Has anyone, for example, tried putting pigment ink in a Pixma model? Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the suggestion. This particular printer doesn't have a scanner lock so the scanner may have been damaged in transit. It was working when it left the seller!

Sorry for the error! It is an MP610. Unfortunately, it also confused Lukasz whose photos are for MGxxxx models and inevitably doesn't help to locate the sensors on a MP610!! I have since been told that they are embedded in the machine and not accessible without a fair bit of dismantling...
