. Sorry this is a bit long winded..

I have divided this up into two different causes so you can decide yourself which one you would describe your situation best.

There are however many other situations that can cause poor quality output
but I have only dealt with the two most common and the easiest ones to rectify.

The first one deals with the lack of use of a printer which has been left to stand idle for long periods without printing a single sheet using both colour inks.

The second one is when insufficient ink masquerades itself as clogged nozzles.

The first course of action to take in either situations is to cease all print work immediately
and dont try to fix your problems with any fancy test prints you may have heard about on other websites; this is just to insure you dont damage your print head, assuming of course you havent already.

You may have blocked nozzles in one or more of your colours, so by following the procedures below you should be able to eliminate the cause of your recent poor print quality quickly.

First printout a nozzle check to see exactly which colours are causing the problems,
now run a normal head clean and then do another nozzle check, now by examining both of them you should check to see if there is a marked improvement in the second nozzle print, if not then repeat all of these steps once again.

When you have a nice clear nozzle check (No missing segments) then you can carry on with your printing but please do a nozzle check at least once a week which will help keep your printer in good condition, even if you,re not planning on printing anything for a long while, still do that nozzle check regularly.

If after running the normal head clean you still dont have a good clear nozzle check
then there are further steps you can take to remedy the situation.

This time run a deep head clean followed by another nozzle check, then examine carefully your previous nozzle print with your current one for any signs of improvements, now have you still got missing segment in the same places, moving around or getting worse.

Doing more and more deep head cleans will only damage your print head and
head alignments
wont cure the problem either so its important to look elsewhere for the solution, and at this stage please dont be tempted to print anything other than nozzle prints either, there is a good and valid reason for repeating this warning.

Replace the particular colour cartridges that are giving you the poor nozzle check with another that you know for certain be good (Even buy a new one if you have too) then run a normal head clean, and follow that with a nozzle print then check the results.

At this stage there should be a improvement in the nozzle check output even if its a very small one, run another couple of nozzle checks immediately and follow that up with just a normal head clean and finally a last nozzle check.

If youre not quite getting the perfect nozzle result then leave the printer standing for an hour or so and try it again later, it sometimes can take a little while for all of the segment to print properly especially the PGBK black.
