By accident found this download today. There are many useful tools on this site. I used this download to reset ink levels immediately after refilling his ip2200.

Worked well, so may be useful to others as well..and may work in other models using the PG-40 and CL-41 carts too.

Main Site has a ton of tips and tricks for many makes and models of inkjets......and quite a few useful downloads.....worth a look..

By now, these Canon 8 series cartridges haven't had compatible chips. The chip resetter enables the used cartridge to reset the data( on the chip) back to zero.

Manuchau, I can't open the link you uploaded. But on this link: http://www.inkmaxhk.com/Canon_Resetter.aspx, there are descriptions about how the resetter works and the steps to reset. Very clear.

xiaoling,... The link you provided does not work. Must be something wrong with it. I searched the web site and found nothing.

Edit: Oops, I was referred to Manuchau's post.

First the IP-tool link work.
The second link does not.

I follow this page (link) and find the "MPTool For MP150, MP160, MP170, MP180, MP450, MP460" article,
click "read the rest of entry", at the end of the article, there is a "Download MPTool" link that take you to a Russan site. Be warned, my antivirus software give me a "Suspicious Website" warning.

I downloaded the software. Scan it NOD32 and show no virus.

Anyway I tried this tool on my MP160 with OEM carts. It seemed to have done something but at the end did not work for me.

I have used this successfully on several printers with no problems. Just highlight the printer you want to reset, and on the right side, click reset colour, and reset black. As long as you have highlighted the correct printer model, it should work perfectly.
The link still works perfectly..just tried it.
If anyone still is having a problem, please post here. I would not be refilling these carts for customers without teaching them how to use this tool.

It is a good one....I would not post it otherwise.

I was referring to the MPtool that did not work for my MP160 which has PG-40 and Cl-41.

The IP-tool does not recognize my MP160.

On some websites, I found the Canon chip resetter can work with the following cartridge models: Canon PGI-5BK, CLI-8, BCI-7E and BCI-9PGBK and the corresponding printer models: Canon IP4200, IP 4500, IP6700, Pro9000, MP500 and MP530.

MP160 is not listed the printer models. I figure that may be the reason why your MP160 doesn't work.

Trigger 37, yes, I myself cannot open the link I upload once again. Try "inkmaxhk" in Google. It works.
