You didn't say anything about installing it on a network. That's a completely different problem than installing drivers and software. And it's not HP's fault. This is a Windows problem, not an HP problem (although I don't know how anyone would ever know that).
I suggest that you plug the printer directly into the computer to install the drivers, if you have not already done so (or check that you do have the drivers installed). THEN you install it on a network.
Do a Google search for installing a network printer on Vista. That's where you need to look. It's Bill Gates' little joke on the world that in Windows, to install a network printer you "install a local printer", or some misleading words to that effect, when in fact you are installing a remote computer, on the network. You define for new port for it, etc. Do the Google search. You'll find it.
