First off, I have absolutely no experience with this; it's just a thought that I got after reading through the thread about resolving bronzing/gloss differential issues with the Pro9500 by replacing the MBK with gloss optimizer.

As compared to the 9500, the Pro-10 seems to have substituted the green for gloss optimizer. Is it possible to do the same with the 9500 using a custom RIP?

No most definitely not, because you have no way of controlling the output from the single green cartridge itself, you can still print colour photos while having the GO in the BK cartridge and it doesn’t affect the quality of your output.

There are no custom RIP’s available for the Canon printers only Epson as far as I know, that's why it is only possible to use the MBK cartridge for gloss coating your prints, (Afterwards & not during printing) and it works just as effective as it does on the Pro 10. (Maybe better)
