Unless ive read that wrong it basically says the technolgy for laser printing is basically the same, i imagine that applies to any laser printer.

@CakeHole : I have the HP Laserjet 1100 which can use the hp 92a (c4092a) OR the Canon ep-22 toner cartridge. Just saying...

You are quite correct if someone can find a printer that is 10+ years old and is an HP Laserjet1100/1100SE/1100XI/1100A/1100ASE/1100A XI/3200NEP or Canon LBP 250/350/800/810/1110/1120, they will take the same toner carts.

Still say neither company have much in common though, especially today. If that were the case then using the same logic and going back even further in time to the dot matrix days all manufacturers are the same, as a Seikosha ribbon would work in various brands of not only home printer but also Epson cash registers and Simplex Time clock in/out machines. The same went for the Oki and Canon who today (Canon at least) still make ribbons that will work in all types of print devices not just common printers but stuff like old style calculators that printed on old style till rolls, from the likes of Sharp, to Citizen.

If it makes life easier though then yes, ill concede and just agree they are all the same  and i wish anyone and everyone the best of shoe-horning any ink cart or toner into another brand of printer today.
