I observed it once last year, but it came back.
Obviously there is no paper - or piece of - left in the printer.

The Canon suggestions (open the rear paper feed) didn't solve anything.

Actually it goes away after shutting down the printer one or two times.
I already aspired the innards, and print my nozzle checks on SRA3 cardboard (32x45 cm) hoping to clean the paper transport, but I didn't find the reason yet.

Any ideas ?

Sometimes these sensors can get paper dust on them and it can cause false errors to occur especially in printers that have battery assisted memory’s, try feeding the same SRA3 paper into the printer again but this time allow two or three sheets to pass through at the same time.

There’s no need to print anything just get the printer to eject the sheet, if necessary tape the sheets together to make sure it passes through and it might wipe the sensor surface free of dust, the other alternate is to clean the whole paper feed area with compressed air..

These false errors can be a real pain, when you don’t know exactly where or what’s causing them to activate..

I hope I can fix it this way, now that even you can't dismantle the printer ;)
As long as it works I won't touch anything.

As I understand it is a light source with a sensor, not a mechanical switch ?

Until now the error didn't appear again (but I left the printer on - against my principles ;) ).
I was able to finish my annual calendars (8x12 A4) plus some A3 prints.

While cleaning the plate I got the 4100 error (non genuine carts) normally linked to the Creative Parks app (I didn't run). Went away by shutting down the printer, strange.

In fact I have stripes on the print border probably related to the printhead, should clean the purge area I think.
Over 2000 prints since I got it 2 years ago (mostly A4 glossy).
It drinks CO and GY ink, but I can't complain about the quality.
