Hello!

I want to buy an ip3600 and I have a few questions:
1. Is the printhead more reliable/long lasting than the ones included on cartridges (CL513 for example)?
2. As the printhead is considered consumable, does the warranty cover it?
3. How well is this machine built? Should I expect problems on the mechanical side?
4. I can buy this printer at 100$. How many prints should I expect of it using inktec/IS ink?

Because a new set of cartridges is around 87$ I will probably buy two ip3600, so I will have an extra printhead/set of cartridges/printer but I need to know what to expect of it.
Any impresions/advice on this printer is welcome.
Thank you!

Tudor I want to buy an ip3600 and I have a few questions:
The ip3600 is a great little printer and will last you a long time because it's very reliable.
As far as the warranty goes it covers the entire printer everything included (1 year).

Buying two printers is a good money saving idea that way youre your getting twice the value.
The only thing youll need is a resetter for your cartridges when they empty then youll be able to refill big time.

Happy printing..:)

Tudor, check debo website, for same money they have IP4850. However, be aware of mixed reviews for this vendor.

In theory the printhead included in cartridge is manufactured at lower standards, to last for about double of stated yield.
But my CISS powered PG37/CL38 already printed more than 5000 pages, and I recall at least a report for more than 10000 pages printed with these cartridges.
I suppose the "secret" is to use quality inks, print often and never run the cartridge dry, things valid for any inkjet.

@The Hat: I just received an answer from the store about the warranty: "The printhead is considered a consumable (like ink cartridges) and as such has no specific guarantee. It can be replaced only if it proves to have a manufacturing defect on equipment acquisition or shortly after acquisition. If you use genuine Canon cartridges the printhead will work without any problems."
I will do some research to see if this is legaly true.

@gigigogu: I know about debo, just talked today with a sales person, but I don't trust them. :) Still, since the warranty doesn't include the printhead(?) and I don't expect any mechanical defects, I would have bought the ip3600 from them if they had it on stock.
I chose the ip3600 over the ip4850 because of the cartridges and the resetter for those cartridges. Sure, the disc print option would have been nice, if I would ever use it, but not at that cost.

For refilling I will probably use Inktec inks. Those I can get locally and I used them with success on my mp250. Did anyone encounter any problems using their inks?

That store you were dealing with doesnt know their ass from their elbow.
The print head and cartridges are guaranteed by Canon to work and if found to be defective will be replaced without obligation.
You are right to choose the ip3600 because of the type of cartridges it uses and they are very easy to refill..:)

Well, I got the printer yesterday and the guy that handed it to me said that everything has one year guarantee except for the cartridges. Also in the papers it said nothing about the printhead being a consumable, just said that the printer is guaranteed for one year.

I would like to receive feedback from you on using Inktec inks with this printer. Did anyone use Inktec with a 1pl canon printer? Is it ok?
Thank you!

I only used InkTek for 2pl printer, and I had no problems.

Tudor, if you find a ink source for 1pl canon printer please let me know, as I am waiting for my IP4850 to be delivered and thus far I found only InkMate, InkTek, and dyes (no pigment black) at cissrevolution.

@gigigogu: I'm considering Inktec and ImageSpecialists. If I don't receive really good feedback on the Inktec ink then I'll try and buy from websnail.
IS+KMP pigment+resetter - 59euro from octoink (if there are no additional taxes beside shipping)
Inktec+resetter - 48 euro locally

At cissrevolution they don't specify who produced the ink. They say it's german, but if you search for the codes (CP110BK for black pigment ink - last in the list) you find Shenzhen Inkbank Digital Consumable Co., Ltd. . As for inkmate... I wouldn't use it on a fine printer like ip4850.

If I disable the ink monitoring on this set of cartridges and I buy in the near future a resetter... will I be able to reset them or they become damaged in some way and non-resetable?
