I think I am basically asking the print quality of the
1) ip6000/6700D "print engine" which has 3,072 nozzle and 6 ink (2 picoliter ink drops for ip6000D , 1 for IP6700D)
2) print engine of MP970 which has 3,584 precision nozzles and 6 ink + pigment black ink for text.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better AIO device in that the 970 encompasses two type of printers in one. A true photoprinter as well as a fast text printer. I can't see how anyone could complain about the print quality as that won't be an issue at all. You can think of it as a no hold barred multifunction printer and if it was less expensive could easily find a place for selective people. The only issue is that it is priced a little high but the rebate could ameliorate that.
Here's a review: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/canon_mp970.html
I already have a IP6000D I brought through Criaglist for $50, specifically for easy refilling purpose. It has served me well. I have gotten a "free" MP160 from buying a laptop. And I refill that too. That does not count my other Brother 2040 Laserjet for text printing.
Now I need to consolidate all my inkjet printers into one, for foto printing primarily. Hence, this MP970 draws my interest. I have just ordered one from Amazon.com and the price will be $140 after a $100 Canon rebate. I just I will have to learn how to refill chipped carts.
