I normally print envelopes using 'plain paper' and 'draft' setup. Printing is quick. But when I changed to thicker envelopes there was smudging at the edge of the envelope. So I tried setting up with 'Envelopes' and 'DL' for the size, thinking that would give more clearance from the print head.

From the much slower speed it printed I guessed it was using a colour combination to get black. Sure enough, the ink was not waterproof. Why should the printer not use the large black ink tank for envelopes? Surely that's where waterproof ink is required. I cannot find any answers in the user's manual.

Anyone know of a way around the problem?

Sorry. my mistake. I wasn't giving it long enough to dry!

It is waterproof.
