Many thanks for this great info and advice. I thought that pigment inks are better than dye for photo printing. Is that the case? Do any of the Canon printers use pigment inks?

As I posted yesterday in the Canon forum my trusty old Canon MP610 (7-8 years old) gave up the ghost yesterday and my son's is also on its last legs. Folk there were enormously helpful in advising how to eek it out to print some vital travel docs my son needs for a 3 week trip round Europe. Now...
