Dell laser printers - any good?

What turbguy said. AFAIK Dell was just rebranding HPs, and my HP 1200 B&W is a truck. No issues in 10 years for mine. Wait a minute, 13+ years on mine.

Burn In Marks In Lcd Monitor?

I have a NEC LCD1912 inch I purchased from Sam's Club, at least 5-6 years ago. I can't recommend it but I haven't had any issues what-so-ever with it. Single user, non-commercial home setting. Still bright anyway.

Windows XP Unsupported from April 2014

By "all the crap" I meant that there are other features included with Pro, as opposed to Home. Corp doesn't have ownership verification prompts and all that bs with the OS. And sure, all v of XP are obsolete. The hallmark plus to XP is that it is the first Windows OS entirely disconnected from...

Windows XP Unsupported from April 2014

Yeah .. good post 3dogs. I was late to the XP table, but I'm the only user on my machine so it'll do till the pocket book gets a filling. I run (corp) Pro with all the extra crap that comes with it. No biggie I just like choices.

    HP 8250 repair

Ran some evaluation pages, plain paper, from http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/a-basic-guide-to-setting-up-argyll-cms-profiling-on-your-computer.8570/page-15#post-69824 If nothing else, the printhead cleaning routine needs done fairly often I suppose. Magenta is the problematic cart on my...

    HP 8250 repair

I have removed/ uninstalled the 'latest' HP drivers and re-installed the original drivers off of the installation cd. Much better. At least as far as printing a HP sample page from the computer. Learning printers is just like learning a flippin' OS.

    sponge parking / cleaningpad replacement

just a comment, and I didn't take any pictures when I had it apart. My HP 8250 has two 'park' spots. They are mounted on a sled that shifts as the printer firmware requires. The actual "done printing" park side looked like it is a hard pad, as you describe, I poked it with my tweezers, and the...

Windows XP Unsupported from April 2014

Keep in mind that perhaps 85% of all the crapware and viruses that infect windows oses are socially engineered. One of my cow-orkers recently got her hard drive held for ransom. "pay us $300 to get your machine back". She opened some POS in her email and her hdd was encrypted. Right Now! The...

    HP 8250 repair

Aha! To get a list of driver(s)s and additional files, use Windows' Printers and Faxes folder. Right click the printer and select 'properties'. Then print a (XP) test page. The Printer Profile page got my brain in gear...

Windows XP Unsupported from April 2014

A few years back, there were plenty of web pages that just didn't display well in anything other than Internet Exploder. Firefox and, I'm guessing, some standards have come around. There was a time when visiting M$'s sites wouldn't display right nor allow 'updates' and things to be downloaded...

    Hi I'm Dennis (DECCMA)

Any suggestions for storing ink carts? My Photosmart is older and I've snapped up some new carts from folks whose printers have gone to the recyclers. ;) I was going to hunt around for a suitable glass jar and seal them up.

Good folks here, though I'm more of a home user hack. Site keeps things pretty tight here too! ;)

    HP 8250 repair

Several of you folks have been most helpful and I thoroughly appreciate it. But I'm ripping on my hair once again. I performed all of the "fixing" for my 8250 on my XP Pro pentium M 1.8Ghz, 1Gb ram laptop. Everything was nominal. 1.1 flavor USB I've since swapped the 8250 to my desktop. 2.8Ghz...

    HP 8250 repair

Re-posting only to make it pop on search engines. http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/some-hp-02-ink-cartriges-work-some-dont.5151/ I only found it accidentally, eh I think, because the machine uses the 02 carts.

Some HP 02 ink cartriges work, some don't

Ah, thank you. I appreciate your links and efforts. I had visited the 411 site and I'm sure I gleaned some information. But, -chuckle- the site lists all the button sequences probably for every HP printer that uses the 02 ink carts except, -another chuckle- my 8250. For the 8200 series without...

Some HP 02 ink cartriges work, some don't

(orig posted to another forum) You know what they say about people that think they know it all? It makes it difficult for those of us who do.  8) I would like to insert some appropriate British witticism, but I haven't any. My printer is good to go. First things first, I...

HELLO TO ALL, NEW TO FORUM-BEEN FILLING hp 301 INK 6 MONTHS

I don't refill. What little I know about it I have gleaned from YouTube. With HP 02 carts, use a proper syringe to 1st, pull a negative pressure on the cart. 2nd insert syringe with ink and fill-'er-to-where-ever. 3rd, draw back on syringe and then insert into cart to "normalize" internal...

Some HP 02 ink cartriges work, some don't

Yeah thanks lolo and nowhere, I pulled the battery with seemingly no positive ground gained. What did do it for me was an old and HP (I assume) removal(ed) of same, a s/w workaround on a .ru site. http://naroDd.yandex.Dru/disk/2579842000/FirDmwareEnDable_ReDlease.eDxe -remove all the cap Ds A...
