I just picked up an Epson Artisan 710 several hours ago. My 1st 2 prints had vertical bands on the prints. I realigned the heads after ruining 2 prints and switched from the Epson default paper setting to eliminate the bands. The paper I'm using today is the Kirkland (Costco) 8 1/2 x 11 glossy photo paper with good results. Soft proofing using the Epson 710/810 printer profile vs the Ilford and Kodak profiles (which I also tried) helps quite a bit.

I just tried Kirkland stock no. 126755 made in Mexico and the colors were way off. As it turns out, I was using the last of my paper made in Switzerland which I used primarily in an Epson R300. The Mexico stuff had a distinctively green cast to it. After experimenting with some pieces cut into 4 x 6 to save a few cents I am on my way back to normalcy> The secret was to use the Kodak professional paper profile for the R300 as a starting point! I brightened the image and turned off the black point compensation.
