Anybody try using the bulk ink for bci-6 in the cli-8 carts ?

Can't imagine it would cause any damage, might need to adjust the settings.

Basic reasoning here is that:

A: Some people have a lot of bci-6 bulk ink left

B: bci-6 bulk ink can be bought from the better online stores, only places selling cli-8 bulk ink are places I've never heard of before.

Personally I think CLI-8 inks are just a hype. There is no real difference from the BCI-6 inks. If CLI-8 inks are really different and better how will Canon hold up its sales on ip8500 and i9900/i9950? Still Canon claims ip8500/i9900/i9950 being their best. If CLI-8 inks were really better prices of ip8500/i9900/i9950 would have been tumbling. There would have been new models with CLI-8 inks to replace them.

I used weink about 2 years ago. The price at the time was about only half of what they advertise today. Same RC-52 ink but twice the price. I don't get it and don't use it any more. I use Hobbicolors now. It cost less than what I paid weink two years ago. I would refill CLI-8 with BCI-6 ink if I had a ip4200. Canon will say they are different. But think about it. CMY are the primary colors of ink. They have to be right on color wise. I have found my CMY ink for BCI-6 worked great on HP23 color ink cartridge for a HP895. I am sure it will work on ip4200 as well.

WeInk is more expensive, but the ink cost is only 6 cents per 8" x 10" photo page. WeInk is an established company and distributs Image Specialists ink to retail customers. The ink can be identified by Image Specialists ink numbers.

Image Specialist is the only present source of BCI-7 /CLI-8 inks. Formulabs ink is less expensive and can also be identified by ink number, but I have not used it.

When using custom printer profiles it is desirable to order ink by ink number, so you can be shure the ink has
not changed, otherwise you need a new profile.
