Waste ink counter reset for Artisan 1430?

I know it's probably a long ways down the road, but I hate having a time bomb in my printer and not knowing how to deal with it. I found that Epson offers a free utility to do this, but only for some models, 1430 NOT included.
I'd like to hear thoughts about replacing the ink pad yourself, or not, or an alternative waste ink system.

To the OP. This is an Adjustment Program used by technicians to perform all sorts of operations.
Be very careful if you do not know how to use these tools.
However they will perform the reset you are after among many other things. They can also screw up many things on your printer if you are unfamiliar with their operation.

cls By the way this Adjustment programs seems to only have the tool for resetting the disk printing counter. I did not see anything to do with the waste ink counters.

I think the WIC reset thing is a reasonable purchase. I'll keep that in mind... if the printer outlives me! Any negatives on that?
