Can anyone please recommend a very good quality Canon photo printer(s) which also does a relatively good job of printing?
I have been using iP4000 for a while but it is getting the printhead clogged too frequently now and would like to replace it.
Thank you.

Why not just try some of the cleaning methods found in this forum? Or, you can replace the printhead. I know they cost about $50.00 or so, but your printer will be trouble- free for a while to come.

Good luck!!

Don't overlook the fact that failing ink cartridges with inadequate ink flow can be mistaken for a clogged printhead.

What seems odd here in the initial question, is why a per say a higher end Canon printhead should be more reliable than a more basic four or five color printhead? It seems to me that as the nozzle count in a printhead goes up, so does the potential of something going wrong, and at the same time the replacement costs go up also.

So I have to be somewhat inspired by a recent post by Neil, with an i960, who is still printing after 20,000 pages, with original printhead and printer. Neil was kind enough to post about recovering from his first ever wasteink tank full.

But if a Canon user is having frequent printhead problems early on, it seems imperative to also ask is there something the user is doing to court problems. Only after some systematic trouble shooting is done should any conclude its a poorly designed printhead that other Canons do not suffer from. Especially when so many have the same printhead and report no similar problems.

Cleaning the print head several times has worked. But now I need an extra printer primarily for photographs. I thought the forum would be useful for the purchase.
Thanks.

So now its better put that what is wanted is a second printer that is more a photoprinting specialist----lots of Canons in the six and eight color flavors. And even some wide carriage options. And I see Canon has announced the pro 9500 model that uses 10 pigmented inks.

Now you have a real problem.
