An especially useful paper for certain pictures where you want the maximum picture stability with dye ink.

You don't need to open an .icc file, you install it. Assuming you are using a Windows PC there are two ways to install the file.

1. Right click (assuming your right handed - I'm a lefty) on the file and select Install - that will place it in your Profile directory
2. Copy or move it to the Profile directory - C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color

Now the .icc profile file will be available along with your other profiles - hopefully.

ok after some digging i found the profile in elements, but the results are very red i am guessing it is the paper which at this time i rather not say what it is but the colors where warmer before the profile was used, maybe warmer is the wrong term the pic was more natural or toward a normal skin tone this will keep be busy for a while

The Canon printer driver cannot utilize custom ICC profiles so it will not use it. As per the instructions you must use printing software/photoediting software to use the custom profiles. So in your case Photoshop Elements. The wide carriage Epson printers can use custom ICC profiles directly within the driver as you had been attempting but unsuccessful at because it cannot be done on the Canon desktop models.

The profile is SPECIFIC to Kirkland Professional Glossy paper with the sailor on the package. Using other papers is just as hit and miss as using the OEM driver. Profile = Paper - Ink - Printer model SPECIFIC COMBINATION.

I used the profile during August on an iP4500 and obtained excellent results. If you don't have the specific paper it certainly is worth your while to get it as it is an economical good performing paper. Using a more expensive paper without a profile would likely yield subpar results.

For Win XP I prefer for profile installation the following:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d 8d429fbb9e

is a handy Win XP Color Management Profile applet for the Control Panel. It lets you install and review profiles by device class and in some other forums it has been stated it gives more stable registration than the right click install option.
