here’s my latest project, I needed a little sign that would work when turned to read the opposite, size 120 x 60 mm.(3 Colour)

It was not easy to get the words backwards on one side and when printing I messed up 3 times, I just didn’t time the changeover of the filament correctly and was always a couple of minutes late, so I had to start again, but I got there...

Cool!

How did you print one side like that with overhangs? Did you use supports?

Did you use supports?

Believe it or not I didn’t use any support, brim or raft, but I did use Cut off object bottom by .2 and it printed out great, not counting the 3 times I had to redo it...:)
I must try a 4 colour print one of these days, now that should be fun...:hide

... but how? There's obviously overhang area in the white. I'm assuming you printed the Open / green side down?

Did the green print, then the white simply bridged the space cleanly?

What is "Cut off object bottom"? What does it do?

Essentially it means whey you place your project for slicing to turn it into a Gcode, you have the choice to cut off (Hide) a small or large piece from the bottom of your project, this will prevent it from printing...

The Pic below shows 50 mm cut from the bottom of this project, as an example...

I printed the red first because that was the colour I had loaded, no other reason then I switched to white at 2.8 mm high, it finished off the last bit of the word CLOSE in white and then started the infill unsupported, then when the word OPEN started to print @ 1 mm high I changed to the green filament..
P.S. I reckon it will take more than this explanation to get @stratman on board... :fl

So, the white just bridged all that space where it was overhanging?

Not knowing much about the process of coding the file used to print, this seemed a brilliant operation you performed.

I am assuming the entire sign was printed in one session, not printed as two halves and then glued together. The Red is elevated from the White but the Red was printed before the White. I suppose I am asking the same as Nifty but without using the vernacular, how did you manage to print the White where there was no Red to stick to?
