Refilling the Canon Pro-1000 is now completed.

It involves some simple steps.
Replacing the chip. You can run the printer with the chip disabled but I'm not sure you want to take chances with running empty with a $700-$800 printhead. Do you? In any case, there are two choices for chips..one time use or arc types. Take your pick. https://youtu.be/vzUPvqQ_gnI

Refiiling the ink tanks. At first it may look hard but it turns out to be as easy as the Pro-9500 or Pro-10. I developed this method and the potential issues have been worked out to eliminate errors. The ink is predispensed into a specific volume to eliminate weighing. The procedure removes the potential of ink leaks due to the negative relative pressure during fill. https://youtu.be/JBFb0GRS32o

Finally a discussion on why refilling this top end machine is special and requires color matching to the utmost possible. Two parts until I redo this part.

Sorry @mikling I just don’t like the method your recommending to refill those carts.:(

The large syringe fitted with a refilling tip is a far easier and safer method to use, at least using the syringe you can pull a vacuum much easier and this allows the ink to flow into the cart at its own rate and time.

Your method does work but why complete a simple refiling procedure...:hu
