ran on empty, banding then odd colors, will my printer be okay?

I ran my canon i960 after one or two of the cartridges were out of ink, I think. Got extreme banding on 2 prints, and a blue green cast over what was mostly a white and reddish-purple image (macro of a flower). Put in new ink tanks and on the next print, the print is smooth, no banding, but an area where the stem is usually green prints as brown. Will my printer be okay, or did I damage the printhead...what shall I do? Thanks, Virginia

Virginia, have you done a nozzle check pattern from the printer's control panel? If you print that, what do you see?
