Gday all, I have a new 9000 printhead coming because of my photo magenta channel being partially blocked (white lines in the nozzle check) so I want to use the old head for coating my 9500 prints with GO. I did try printing the same 70% grey in greyscale mode on the 9000 & it worked just as well as doing this with the 9500 so should I fill all 8 carts with go or just use the black cart in greyscale?
If I use all 8 carts what image do I print to get a coating of GO onto the print?
How would I store the GO printedhead when it's out of the printer until I need it again?

Gday Rod
I use my iX7000 to print GO on my photos and set the colour slider to 50% on all colours in CYMK and fill all my carts with GO and that works for me.

When I’m finished I just drop the print head into some of pharmacist solution for an hour and then rinse it under running water for a minute, then just cap it with the orange clip and leave to dry till the next time..

Great Thanks Hat:) Another dumb question, what type of picture do you use to print? I don't think the 70% black will fire the colour carts, will it?

If you set your printers media when overprinting the GO to any of the High glossy papers then the printer will use all of the eight cartridges.

If you increase the CMY colour slider up a bit more then you can output even more GO on the sheet, its trial and error..

Rod, try a cleaning cartridge. I've begun to rediscover these things as being very effective for stubborn partial clogs. Just give it time and turn off the printer.

Thanks Mike. What is a cleaning cartridge? My minds a blank, do I just fill my PM cart up with some cleaning fluid like Windex & then run the printer?

Yes, in the old days we would fill up spare cartridges with cleaning solution like windex with ammonia and use these as cleaning cartridges.
I would do that. Then perform a head clean or two and then let them sit there for at least a day. Close the cover and then let it rest. Patience is your friend here. You can boost the alcohol content (isopropyl alcohol) a bit. While waiting, turn the printer off.
I'm now in the camp of turning printers off when not expecting to use them for a while now.

Thanks Mike I will give that a try. It would be good to have two heads running one with ink & one with GO.
