Here’s a nice little box for someone who doesn’t want to spend their time making, or buying a much bigger one, it’s a moisture and dustproof dry box. Priced at €30

I keep my filament in 2 1/2 Gallon zip lock bags with some desiccant (most likely silica gel). You can get desiccant cheap at air conditioning supply houses. They use it for commercial refrigeration dryer/receivers. Most of the desiccant they sell changes color to blue when it is wet., pink if it is dry. If the desiccant is wet, just dry it in a warm oven (probably at 200 degrees).

With the dry box, you still need the desiccant to keep it dry.

The bags are a lot cheaper than that.

I keep about 6 different rolls of filament around, so getting that would be expensive.

I've been using a few air-tight food containers from Amazon, like this one:

(I got 2 for $30)

... but I like the idea of using 2.5 gallon bags!
https://amzn.to/3oWT5Zd

12 for $4.00?!?!

I especially like that I could store one per bag and not disrupt other rolls when needing to grab one color.

I have the color-change desiccant I could put in each one too :)

BTW, I'd be tempted to try this... but scared to death of getting a little water in the bag during the process:
;)

I've never had a problem with moisture getting into the bags. Just don't put the filament in over your sink. I squeeze as much air out of the bag after I put the roll in.

BTW, you should be able to get the bags at your local grocery store. I get mine at Publix. Get the thickest bag you can find. And yes, they are cheap. A box should last a while.

What I found quite good about this dry box in post #1, its ready to use instantly and stands on its own where ever its needed, there is also desiccant in the bottom section and it comes with its own rollers and humidity indicator cart, it’s ideal for instant colour change…
