Hey guys, new member here from Greece. User of HP printers for years, now thinking to switch over to something better for photos and A3+ posters, and that's how i found you. Nice forum you got here!

Still searching for the best printer that meets my needs. It has to be cheap on ink, reliable with minimum/basic maintenance and with output quality above average for photos. Any suggestions?

All of them! LOL
Welcome Apostolos!
The EPSON 3880 is a superb printer that in the right hands does produce gallery quality prints.
You can not beat the K3 Vivid Ultrachrome inks for both color and B&W prints.
Just about every paper maker supports it with custom profiles.
You can begin with the original inks. Nine carts of 80 ml each which will last you quite a while.
Minimal maintenance though you just can not ignore it for months.
Hardly EVER clogs!
If and when you choose to go with a 3rd party ink and cart choice, this printer is superbly supported.
So in my view it is a win win.

Thanks for your answer Joe!
The Epson 3880 seems like a superb printer, but costs a bit much (here in Greece). Is around 1300 € (~1700 $). I was thinking of spending about half of that amount.
Printers are expensive here..:( (i googled epson 3880 prices in USA and found that can be bought from some e-shops even for 899$. Thats almost half the price!

Actually Hat, I do have Irish in the old blood line!!
So that's how I ended up with two bright red headed, freckeled girl cousins on my father's side!
We would make one hell of a pair on St. Patty's day! After a few pints of dark Guinness! If we don't end up locked up for the night!
