Hi fellow Printerknowledge Members!

I did some research and discovered that Epson introduced their newer ITS product line too add more printer beside the
L100 (4 color Dye based)
L300 (4 color dye based)
L800 (p50 with Integrated CISS)

they have a A3+ Printer (1500W ) with Ink Supply System...
http://www.epson.com.sg/epson_singa...rinters/product.page?product_name=Epson_L1800

L1800

its basically a 1500W with a OEM CISS
that thing looks like a beast, I do own one 1500W and its siting on stock until a customer with a coresponding "need " profile will show up, I do Install most of the A3 Printers with CISS but now a ready OEM Solution is truly awesome!

The question is: how good are those Epson refill inks (fade resistance) ? One could buy these inks only and use to refill the EU version of these printers.

there is no change in SKU numbers for the L1800 and L800 its the same "inks"
as previously researched by other members here and in dpreview the L Series Ink is not that faderesistance as the "original" Epson Claria/Hd inks.

I dont know but I wont even bother with OEM Inks on the L1800... 70ml for ~ 9 €. thats 128€ per Litre, I could buy me that almost BEST available pigment based ink for this price
or just print with OCP Dye Inks for about 20€ per Litre
let's go the whole hog!

You can see it the other way around: how good is the ciss? One could buy the printer and refill with any ink you want (including pigment)
The ciss is probably better than most others, because it is from epson and it is integrated in the printer, hopefully no messing around with tubes and other issues...just easy refilling.
A printing expert on druckerchannel is very satisfied with his L300 (ordered from poland)
http://www.druckerchannel.de/forum.php?seite=beitrag&ID=260471&t=epson_l300_erste_erfahrungen
He uses dye and pigment (with profile) and printed 5000 pages (ca. 1000 photos) with no problems so far, except that the L300 do not print borderless (like the L800).

Quite interesting to read his method of putting gloss optimizer in the black position and to print a full "black" page to cover the whole page with gloss optimizer.

I might try that method.

I dedicated for ~2 month a Epson 1400 for "all gloss" printing, but none of my customers were interessted paying additonal for the prints, so I went back to R3000 printing on glossy papers
I would love a 10~12 Channel printer with at least one dedicated channel for gloss
I am really happy I "moved" some printers away and now I am heavy printing on the 3800 I repaired.

3 Years ago an L1800 would be a sweet addition, but I had my first 1400 already after 3 weeks on a CISS due to massive output I had to print.

What I do like it the variant of L1300 a four color A3 size Printer
but the BIGGEST BULLS!!!! is ALL L Series Printer dont print native with Pigment based inks NONE of them...
AND NONE of THEM has AUTO Duplex... WHY?

Who would I even Mess with an High Capacity Office Printer without waterresistant inks on paper or "permanent" ink ...

But lets see how this going to change the market

I will soon ditch my WF-7515 and get me an A4 Size MFP with high capacity tanks ( Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4640DTWF) if the refillable carts will get available soon

I successfully did that with my Pro 9500 and it worked brilliantly but had to quit using it because it meant I didn’t have the use of the matte black cart, I switched to using a iX7000 with used all five carts filled with Glop to achieve the same result.

The Epson L1800 works well with the built-in CISS on dye inks but I imagine there would be problems using pigment ink in it before to long.. :(

Printing gloss optimizer seems to be a smooth method to varnish a print, easier than spraying.
But did you ever tried to fill UV protective paint/lacquer (which usually comes in spray can) in the printer?
Or will it destroy the printer for sure?

mild solvent or solvent based liquids would just melt away your printhead manifold AND ruin the printhead if left unmaintained

last and cheapest solution for FULL A3 gloss printing was the workforce WF7015 (wf7010 in usa)
it a nozzle beast: Black 384, each other color: 128
and sold for like 130€ inkl. 40€ wort of ink
either via "BLACK" only Printing and fitting a R3000 refillable cart with the T1301 Chip
Epson_R2000_R3000_Refillable_ink_cartridge_with_chips_T1571_T1591.jpg

or with help of QuadTonerip
the WF7015 is a fast beast in full page printing
